CREATIK SCOOPS FIVE AWARDS AT THE 2021 SYDNEY DESIGN AWARDS

We’re thrilled to have won Gold and four Silvers at the 2021 DRIVENxDESIGN Sydney Design Awards which celebrate courage, excellence and diversity in design.

“The standard was extremely high and to be up there with the best of them is both amazing and humbling,” said Kylie Gould, Creative Director of Creatik.

Gold awarD: Marketing – Mobile Campaign

Eyecare Plus – See Australia Your Way social media campaign

This category recognises campaigns that use elements such as competitions to engage customers via mobile applications.

Within the optical care category, Eyecare Plus has an established reputation for award-winning eyecare and clinical excellence. Whilst the business has a well-versed annual marketing plan, it sensed a degree of communication fatigue amongst their social media followers and were seeking fresh content and new ways to engage people.

We proposed to run an Instagram photo contest to invite patients to enter by sharing pictures showing their experience at Eyecare Plus. We developed the campaign strategy and brought it to life through design and copy, across social media, supported with a competition microsite, magazine covers & advertorials, in-store marketing and merchandise.

There was a strong mobile-first focus to the campaign, primarily due to the nature of the channel but partly due to ongoing COVID restrictions. We developed a series of progressive messages for Instagram, using both posts and story formats, to promote the competition including weekly winner announcements and reminders to enter.

Silver award: Better Future – Circular Economy

Delivery Hound – Refill & Replace dog food delivery service

“Designing for a better future, for the good of the planet and collaborating with businesses that stand for something better really matters to us a group of like-minded people,” explains Kylie. “We’re immensely proud to have played our part in the promotion of Delivery Hound.”

This category celebrates projects that expand and grow the use of circular economy principles. Delivery Hound approached Creatik to help develop the brand and grow the customer base in Sydney's eastern suburbs. Our recommendations included developing the brand identity, redesigning the website, and running a digital marketing campaign to increase brand awareness and drive traffic to the website.

Silver Award: Graphic Design – Illustration and Type

Jands – brand visualisation

Since 1970, Jands have stamped their mark on the performance industry. To reflect that, we took a bold typographic approach to the rebrand, delivering a hero graphic device that could be scaled up or down to suit their different communication pieces. Our goal was to create a mark of distinction, every bit as strong as their brand reputation. We took our cues from the visual vocabulary of the music and performance world: Performance. Sound. Movement. Dramatic light.

Silver Award: Graphic Design – Three Dimensional

Kissed Earth – Skin Care packaging

Our brief was to create a packaging design that would reflect the quality of the product inside Kissed Earth’s new range of luxurious collagen skin care. Both the inner and outer packaging are meticulously designed to represent the premium quality of the product, elevate the range and ensure it stands out on the over-crowded and competitive skin care shelf.

Silver Award: Graphic Design – Three Dimensional

True Colours Dog Food – Packaging

This highly competitive category celebrates creative and innovative design in the traditional or digital visual representation of ideas and messages used in packaging.

Our goal was to use the packaging to declare the business and brand values upfront and centre. To show the company’s commitment to being transparent and true to its ingredient philosophy and in doing so, building trust with consumers. Every aspect of the packaging design from colour, to font, to the tone of voice, is designed to deliver the brand promise. And in doing so, strike a balance between creativity and effectiveness.

“Good design is good for business and the higher we aim, the better it is for our clients,” ends Kylie.
